Ms. Tara Garland grew up in North Chicago, IL where she graduated from in 2009. She has been working for non-profit organizations since 2011 and started her career working in the Multicultural Office, writing and implementing programming for youth at Northern Michigan University.
Tiara graduated from NMU in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology Behavior Analysis. When she returned to Lake County IL, she worked for Lake County Head Start from 2014 – 2020. There she started off as a Lead Teacher and worked her way up to running the Education and Disabilities Departments.
In 2021, she continued working for non-profits and became the Assistant Director of Operations for the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County and worked there until she obtained her position as Executive Director of the Antmound Foundation.
Ms. Tiara has a passion for giving back to the community she grew up in, she contributes and gives back by educating and growing the minds of the youth, as a direct by-product of being blessed enough to have positive, motivating and strong-minded people surrounding her, to be that role model for someone else in her same community.
